ADVTee Pattern Blog Tour

ADVTee pattern by Sofilantjes sewn by Lulu & Celeste

Sofilantjes came out with a new pattern, the ADVTee! I’ve liked everything I’ve sewn up of theirs and was so excited to be taking part in the tour.

Disclaimer: I received the pattern for free for the purpose of this review. This post includes affiliate links. All affiliate links are marked with an *. See my Disclaimer-Legal Info tab for more info on affiliate links. All thoughts and opinions are my own of course!

But then, I fell so behind these past two weeks. Miss V was sick, and then I was sick, combine that with doctor appointments, work, life in general and preparing for a craft show I haven’t been able to take part in all the tours I was supposed to. I wasn’t even sure I would get this done! (And if you look, you’ll notice I still haven’t hemmed the sleeves. I’m telling you, the ADVTee* a quick sew but in 10 minute increments it still takes many days). I managed to grab a few quick pics on the mannequin who is about a size 4/5 as Miss V wasn’t being super cooperative. I probably should have gone outside to get the pics as my house is so dark indoors nowadays, but the thought didn’t cross my mind until I sat down to write this post. So, I’m sorry for the very bad pictures.

So, all that aside. This tee was fun to make and plan out. I’ve decided that I’m sewing for Miss V for next Spring/Summer so I sewed this tee in a size 3 who is currently in size 2’s in RTW and most PDF patterns. Since she is still fitting size 2 short-sleeves no problem, I think it’s safe to sew size 3 short sleeves for next year. If not, this tee is fairly gender neutral and we could always gift it to her little cousin who is a year younger than her.

Here is the nitty gritty on the ADVTee:

Pattern: ADVTee* by Sofilantjes

Size range: 12 months to 14 years

Regular Price: $8.95 US. Get 20% off with the code “CELEBRATE” until December 6, 2015!

Fabric recommended and usedStretch knit fabric is recommended. I used a cotton lycra custom knit purchased from Peek-a-boo Pattern Shop. The Let The Good Times Roll panel* and the Tossed Bikes*. I actually purchased a remnant bundle so I didn’t have quite enough length of the bikes to do a full back so I basically colour blocked it with an extra leftover piece of the panel (see pic below). The fabrics were great to work with. They have a good weight (12oz) and sewed so nicely.

Design changes/Pattern alterations made: As mentioned above I colour-blocked the back because I didn’t have enough length to work with of the bikes.

Comments on the pattern/instructions: Instructions are clear and easy to understand with graphics and photos. The pattern pieces use the layered feature so you can print only the size(s) you need.

Overall thoughts on the finished item: Fit is good, I did size up so I can’t really comment on whether it’s “true to size” but I think she should get a lot of wear out of it once she hits size 3.

Will I make it again?: Yes! I loved how simple she made the v-neck go together, and I need to try Version B. I’ve never been disappointed with a Sofiljantes pattern.
