I made another dress! This time for me! So I’m back with another post for the Dress up this Town tour hosted by Sewing by Ti.

I made the Angie* from Sis Boom Patterns. The Angie is an easy to sew (and wear) woven dress with no closures. There is an elasticized waist to help give some shape; optional pockets; and the neckline has three heights.
(My camera battery died before I could do the modelled shots, I will update asap)
I don’t wear dresses very often so I feel slightly uncomfortable in this. But it’s me and my insecurities. I also have a horrible time choosing fabrics. Trying to find something fun but appropriate (that I could possibly wear to work) and that isn’t see through. Hopefully this looks ok on me.
The pattern went together pretty easily. Although I don’t sew for myself very often and when I do I’m mainly making knit loose shirts and not woven fitted bodice dresses and so I’m still learning about fitting for my body and darts. The darts could probably be better.. I followed the tutorial from Itch to Stitch on moving darts and it is explained well, just not sure if I executed the change properly, ha. I had to lower the darts and bring them closer to the center; but I’m also wondering if I should have gone down a size and done a FBA as I get a little gaping at the neckline.
Pattern: Angie from Sis Boom (found on Etsy* or their website)
Price: $10 US
Sizing: XS to 3X
Size sewn: XL bodice with the L skirt width and the 32″ length. (I decided to remove some fullness from the skirt as I was worried it would be too much at the waist).
Fabric used: A woven with a little stretch purchased from Fabricville.
