Another day, another tour! Today’s tour stop is all about the EYMM Capsule skirt. Check out the skirts I made and read through to the end for the discount code!

So, my kids lately haven’t been the best models and by the time the oldest gets home from school it’s kind of dark in the house anyway so picture quality isn’t the best. Sometimes Miss V (the 2.5-year-old) will stay still long enough for pictures but there’s no guarantee, and since I’m limited for empty wall space in my house for pictures and we can’t go outside for pics (well, I suppose we could but we’re going through a cold snap and got more snow yesterday!) and I don’t want her outside without snow pants on so I decided to forego the stress of trying to get one or both of the girls to cooperate for a picture and just show off a few doll versions! I’m seriously considering just sewing tons during the fall/winter/early spring and spending the late spring and summer just taking photos and stockpiling blog posts for the rest of the year!
The awesome thing about making doll sizes is that you can use up scraps and they’re pretty quick! The Capsule skirt is pretty quick to sew anyway (especially if you skip hemming like I did -they’re dolls, they don’t care and the knit won’t fray). It probably wouldn’t take too much longer to sew a girl’s skirt than it did to sew a doll’s one. Actually it might be easier since you’re not fighting with tiny waistbands.
Pattern: Girl’s Capsule Skirt* by EYMM (also available in women’s sizes* and as a bundle*)
Size range: Girls: Newborn to 18 +doll (for 15″ dolls and stuffies and 18″ dolls); Women’s: XS – 5X (see the listings to get exact measurements the size ranges offer)
Price: $8.95 each size range separately; bundle is $13.95. Use the discount code PERFECTSKIRT to save an extra 25% until April 12th, 2016.
Fabric recommended and used: Knit fabric with at least 30% stretch and good drape for the skirt; cotton lycra knit with 50%+ stretch for waistband. I used scraps from Love Home by Duncan & Kate; Kaufman Laguna knits purchased from Fabric.com (the solids and circles); the floral was also purchased from Fabric.com but don’t remember which line it came from.
Pattern pieces are included for the waistband and skirt, although after measuring out the waistband piece I just measured and cut each one without it.
In the girl’s and women’s size there are also side seam pockets you can add which are a definite bonus! The skirts also have different hemlines so that if you (or your child) are blessed with a larger bottom you cut out the longer hemline for the back skirt piece so that when worn your skirt has an even hem all around. No more skirts riding up in the back!
