Sew Long Summer Tour: Coasters

citrus-coasters03

I had such a hard time trying to come up with a project for this tour. Originally I was planning either a top for me or something for Silly Bean, but I needed a change from sewing clothing and wanted a quick project to share. The weather is starting to getting cooler so this is the perfect time to whip up some coasters.

Melissa of Mahlica Designs is the fantastic host of this tour. The great thing about this one is that there a few new-to-me bloggers taking part. I love finding new blogs! There are also discounts and a giveaway. For details on those scroll to the bottom. But first check out the rest of the pics of my cute little coasters.

I love the colour combination of these coasters. They’re so bright and cheery.

The colours work for fall and will be nice on dreary winter mornings. To make these I used two layers of wool-blend felt and one layer of quilting-weight cotton.

The other great thing is that these are a great way to make use of scraps of your favourite fabrics!

They’re super simple to make but I hope to have a tutorial up next week with more photos.

I just love wool-blend felt. The colours are so pretty and they’re so soft. For this set I made two in yellow and two in orange.

A quick project to make for yourself or to give to a tea or coffee (or hot chocolate!) drinking friend. I usually make a set of 4 coordinating ones, stack them then tie with a ribbon. Combine it with a package of tea or coffee and you would also have a great teacher gift!

For more coasters I’ve made, check out my tutorial for a maple leaf shaped coaster.

  1. Ok who wants coasters for Christmas, ’cause I’ve got scrap galore. There are plenty of cold dreary mornings that these would brighten up and not being a morning person these could help to wake me up a little too.

    1. I’ve made a bunch for family before for Christmas, and I think I will be making some more this year. They’re so quick and pretty. I’m sure your family would like them!
