I’m sharing my version of the Everyday Elegance top by Patterns for Pirates for the Fall Pattern showcase hosted by Free Notion.

I’m going to come to the point right away.. I like the top, I like how it goes together, but I’m not sure I like it on ME. So, you’ll notice that it’s not hemmed yet since I may be altering it. (I’m going to have my sister try it on first and see if she likes it).
My stats: 42/35/40, I’m 5’8″, and generally wear a size 12-14 RTW on top and size 10 or 12 on bottoms. I think I’m what you call an inverted triangle.
I probably could have reduced the width of this top slightly as it got closer to the hem but I think shortening it to a top would be better on me.
Not a great picture, hey my 5-year-old’s skills aren’t the best, but it shows how full it is from the waist down and the length the best. When I’m standing wide-legged I don’t mind the length and width so much, I think because visually I’m more balanced out.

I should mention that the pattern includes instructions to make an optional belt but I don’t like belted tops on myself, especially on billowy tops like this. I do love the design of this top, and own a few RTW tops that are similar (but not tunic length). I will for sure make it again but next time I will shorten it to more of a top length. I think, on me, tunics need to be more fitted through the waist and hips.
And I also love this fabric. It’s peach skin fabric purchased from LowPriceFabric.com. It feels really nice on and wasn’t too much of a pain to sew.
