Maegan over at Mae&K started a little series this month called Free Pattern Friday. Each week she showcases an item she made using a free pattern found out in the blogosphere and invites other bloggers to participate. This week it’s the Stuffed Fox Pattern by STITCHED by Crystal.
Pattern: Stuffed Fox pattern by STITCHED by Crystal
Cost: FREE.. duh
Fabric Used: I upcycled a fleece scarf from Old Navy. The scarf was fun since the colours have an ombre effect all the way around the scarf. The facial features are felt (that I glued on with Fabri-Tac instead of sewing)
This is a fairly simple stuffed animal pattern, it would be good as a first stuffed animal project. Maybe even a good beginner project?
The only issue (if you can call it that) I had was that the pattern pieces didn’t have placement markings for the ears or facial features (it has them for the arms, legs and tail though), so I eyeballed it and apparently my eyeballs are crooked since the ears aren’t quite even but Little Miss V is not complaining. But hey! It’s a free pattern, I’ll mark the my ideal spots for them on the pattern piece before I make the next one.

The only really tricky part is sewing the front and back together with the arms and legs there. It was a bit difficult getting it under the presser foot.
This project was a win for me! I will make some more little foxes for sure! If you pick up a copy of the One Thimble magazine you will find a pattern for a reindeer (also available as a standalone pattern) by Crystal as well, which is totally cute and was fun to make too.
This one is counting as a pattern stash towards my challenge, even though it’s free it’s been on my to-sew list for too long.
