Hank & Clementine is a new fabric line designed by Susan Emory of Swirly Girl Designs for Michael Miller Fabrics. The tour is being hosted by Gemia of Phat Quarters. Not only does Phat Quarters sell some pretty awesome fabrics but they also sell PDF patterns they’ve designed. Go check them out!
There’s also a giveaway so don’t forget to enter that at the end of the post!
Michael Miller Fabrics has some of my most favourite collections, and this one is no exception. I love love love the colours in this line. Mint is one of my favourite colours, (along with aqua, turquoise, blue and green, lol). So I was super excited to receive my fabric.
Note: I received fabric free of charge in exchange for this post. But I’m totally in love with the fabric!
I decided that I needed to make something for myself for this post for two reasons. One: my kids are notoriously difficult to photograph and there is currently a mountain of snow outside, and two: I love the fabric so much I want to hoard it all to myself.
I decided to sew up the free Swoon pattern, the Laney. It’s a hobo style bag and while searching for the link I realized that it’s actually reversible. Which is awesome because I had debated with myself over whether or not I should use the fabric I used for lining on the outside. Now I can!
Unfortunately I didn’t seem to notice it said ‘reversible’ so I didn’t take any photos of it reversible. I probably won’t use it with the lining side out since it’s mainly white anyway.
I love the fabric. I love that it just screams Spring to me. I even took the bag outside in my mountains of snow and tried to get pictures. They didn’t turn out so well, I couldn’t get the colours to look right since the snow made things blueish and I just couldn’t get them looking right no matter how much I tried to edit them.
And one last pic to give you an idea of the size of the bag. I can’t wait for it to warm up around here so I can start using this bag more.
