Mademoiselle Vest – Project Run & Play

Next month I’m posting a look for the Mystery Challenge hosted by Friends Stitched Together, and I finally figured out what look I was going to go for my theme of Woodstock ’69 (can’t wait to share!). So, I decided my look needed a vest and thought I would use the free Mademoiselle Tee pattern from Susan of Living With Punks, which is this month’s Project Run & Play challenge.

Here is my vest!

I added a pink lining in the hopes that Silly would wear it!

This all happened totally last minute (like I decided on doing the vest yesterday, and sewed it up last night!).

Then because it was so last minute I didn’t really have time to plan a photoshoot. Both kids were about to have a meltdown since they hadn’t had lunch yet and it was nearing the baby’s naptime. I needed to go quick because I’m squeezing this post in at the very last second, lol. I’ve been wanting to sew along with PRP for ages and finally finished something before the time limit!

Silly refused to put the vest on for pictures, so I managed to get Miss V to try it on long enough for a quick pic. So try to imagine this vest on someone about a foot taller (although chest size is almost the same, there’s about an inch between them chest wise).

I obviously modified the pattern pieces. I shortened them and then drew a slight curve along both the front and back pieces. And drew the front neckline lower. I cut the front as two pieces. I decided my vest would just hang open so I didn’t add anything to the front center line in order to get an overlap which would be necessary for buttons.

Here’s a side shot. You can kinda make out the back center seam. I upcycled a pair of my maternity jeans and used the outside seam of my jeans for the center fold. The pink satin has been in my stash for a few years. I have a lot of it, it’s the same satin I used to make my satin flowers.

As close to a back pic as I could get.

I’m kinda thinking the vest needs something to make it more “Woodstocky”, so it may look slightly different when the whole outfit is complete and I share my look in two weeks. Stay tuned!
