Issue 8 of One Thimble* magazine has been released, and I’m showing off what I made today!
Also, I received the Desert Fox pattern free for the purpose of this review,
This issue of One Thimble* includes 12 PDF patterns including this super cute stuffie. The patterns can be purchased separately but the best deal is to get the whole magazine. The Desert Fox* was designed by Alicia of Felt With Love Designs. As you can probably guess, the fox is designed to be made using felt. Originally I was going to use felt but since the instructions said it could work with other fabric I decided to try it out in cotton.
Because I was using a light-weight cotton I lined the ears with a layer of felt to help them stand. In hindsight I should have lined the tail in felt as well to help it stay up, ha, but I thought of that too late.
The other change I made because of my fabric choice was I decided to glue the black eye shape on with Fabri-Tac
instead of stitching as I didn’t have any stabilizer on hand. (I’ve used Fabri-Tac on other stuffies before and it’s held up well).
Silly Bean claimed the Desert Fox before I could put the nose on. She loves it and it has joined the select group of stuffies that sleep with her at night.

That is so pretty in a fabric! Great job!
Thanks Melissa!
Love this! I was thinking about making mine from cotton so its good to know it worked and I wouldn’t have thought to line the tail and ears so great tips!
Thank you! I knew I needed to make it so that it would pass my all-things-girly-only 5-year-old’s approval and I didn’t have any pink felt on hand lol. Definitely use a larger seam allowance if the fabric frays easily though.
i love the fox in this fabric!
Thank you so much!
