Red, White and Pink Tour: Hazel Deer pattern

I’m back participating in another blog tour hosted by Sewing by Ti, the Red, White and Pink Tour.

Originally I was planning to make a top or dress for my older daughter as it was her birthday earlier this month. Unfortunately the plans didn’t work out partly because I wound up catching the flu and it knocked me out completely for a few days and now more than a week later I’m still not 100%. I’ve also been volunteering at my daughter’s school running a lunchtime craft for a group of 21 kids in Kindergarten to Grade 2. It’s taking up almost all my free time, when I’m not hacking up a lung, to plan for.

So I thought I would share with you a project I made a couple months ago that I never got around sharing on my blog. (I did however share it on Instagram a few weeks ago so this may not be a new project for some of you). I’ve been meaning to share it here so it was good timing.

Late November I made this super sassy and cute softie using the Hazel deer pattern from Dolly Henry.

I used some scrap fabric left over from a couple outfits I had sewn Silly Bean last summer, and used a linen blend for the body I had scored nearly a full meter of in the bolt end bin at my local fabric store. I love that bin, you can usually get 3 pieces for $5 and sometimes the pieces are just shy of a full meter.

It’s a super cute pattern and went together pretty well. The facial features are hand-stitched but the rest is machine sewn. The cape is so adorable, all the clothing is removable (except the bonnet obviously).

I really don’t have much more to say about the pattern, ha. It’s just super adorable and I plan to make more, as soon as I can find the time!

Let’s get inspired!
