Today I’m sharing one of the Little Photographer Cameras I made from the Swoodson Says pattern. The cameras are super cute.

My two girls are always trying to steal my camera from me. And, honestly, I let the 5 year old take pictures with it sometimes, but I’m not quite ready to let the 2-year-old try it out yet, ha. So, naturally I thought she might have fun playing with toy camera.
IÂ started sewing up 4 different cameras. I have a craft fair coming up where I mainly sell Christmas decorations but figured I’d bring a few bigger things along to fill up some space. And if they don’t sell, it’s ok I’ve got lots of nieces and nephews and my own two girlies to give presents too.
The longest part of making the cameras is doing all the applique work. I did four at a time so it took a little doing it that way but tried to keep some of the pieces the same colour to reduce the amount thread switching I needed to do.

Once the appliques were done, sewing it all together was quick! It’s a little tricky going around those corners, but take it slow and you should be ok!
I had a little problem sewing on the bias around the vinyl, I broke a needle at one point because the corner was thick. The vinyl pocket in the instructions is a 3″x3″ square, I cut mine out a little larger.

The camera is about an inch or so wide as you can see in the side shot. It takes a lot more stuffing than I thought it would. (They always do!) So I need to go buy another bag before I stuff the other three cameras.
I tried to get some good shots of Miss V playing with it, but she had just woken up from nap and wasn’t having it. So these are only two that weren’t blurry!
But look! You can see that the pocket works! She stuffed a bracelet in there.
Thanks so much for having me Stephanie!
Don’t forget to take advantage of the 40% off sale*Â and pick up a pattern to make something cute for your kiddos! (Here’s the code again:Â SewAllTheSofties)
Sooo stinking cute (sorry you broke a needle though!). I love how it turned out, and I hope they sell well at the craft fair! Thank you for joining in 🙂
Thank you for having me! This one will be staying here, my oldest has claimed it. But hopefully the others sell!!
Such a cute camera! I love the fabrics you used! My daughters are loving theirs. I think we need more.
Same here! The 5-year-old has claimed this one 🙂
It turned out super cute! And I agree about the stuffing! I felt like I just kept adding more and more! 🙂
Thanks Rebecca!
I love making more than one of something at once, but I am always surprised how much longer it takes than I think it will! This camera is bigger than I thought it was – it’s a great size. Your photos really help show perspective. Hope your craft fair goes well!
