It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… Ok well, sorta, maybe, not really. We had a light dusting of snow a couple days ago but otherwise nothing. I also don’t tend to decorate the house for Christmas until after my birthday (which is in a couple days), so I lied, it doesn’t really look like Christmas yet around here. BUT I have made a new Christmas stocking!

It actually has two patchwork versions, I went with the alternative version of simple squares so it would be less cutting of paper patterns to deal, but you can see Deb from Sprouting JubeJube’s version here.
I usually have such an issue with doing patchwork designs, wanting to make sure that it’s random and all and still looks nice. So after cutting up my squares I basically mixed them all up and picked them up randomly from the pile, only making sure that the same print wasn’t next to each other in each row or column. I think I did ok. My fabrics were all very traditionally Christmassy but my next one will be more “fun”.
And here’s a picture of the stocking “hung up”. Maybe it gives an idea of the size of it, or maybe it doesn’t. It would help if you knew how large my dusty old piano is. It’s a good size though. Not too long, and wide enough making it easy to take presents out of.
We don’t actually have a place to hang our stockings up onto though. We just sit them on the couch in the basement where the tree will be. And our basement doesn’t have great lighting so I don’t take pictures down there, so no action shots for you, sorry.
The pattern also comes with an alphabet that you can make letters out of and button to the front of your stockings to help Santa keep them straight. So cute!
